Why Many Hearing Impaired Women Do Not Own Hearing Aids

Aside from the tendency of many women to hesitate in buying hearing aids because they think they can still communicate well with their loved ones without it, they are also often discouraged by the relatively high price of many hearing aids available in the market today.

Yes, there are many stores, distributors and websites advertising hearingaids at what they call affordable prices, but many women struggling from the loss of hearing do not have a high paying job that can afford even the discounted priced ones. Aging women and retirees on the other hand, feel shy and uncomfortable asking their children and younger relatives for hearing devices because they do not want to burden them with the expenses. For this reason, many women tend to just deal with their loss of hearing and learn to cope. Some on the other hand, who are fortunate enough to afford hearing devices and own one for their use, just choose to stop wearing them after some time. This is because of different reasons such as being uncomfortable every time they wear their hearing aids, or thinking that they look stupid wearing one.

What these women may not know, is that paying no attention to their gradual loss of hearing and not seeking medical attention and assistance in finding remedy for it may cause risks and disadvantages ranging from situations as simple as little misunderstandings in verbal conversation to as grave as fatal accidents caused by not being able to hear approaching things or warnings.
