Cork Boards as Business Bulletin Boards
The unique qualities of cork boards in terms of elasticity, compressibility and flexibility, allow it to quickly recover from push-pin, staple and thumbtack holes pressed within it. In fact, an experiment had shown that a cubic inch of cork was able to withstand great amount of pressure as much as 14,000 lbs. The cork did not break down with the extreme pressure and was able to retain 90 percent of its original form after the abuse. In addition to this, cork based boards can last a considerably long time, which makes them a very practical choice for many industries including class rooms.
In the corporate world, the use of cork boards are pretty much the same as their use in classrooms; people put notes, memos, announcements, and warnings on them. As compared to chalk boards and white boards where you would have to write the information you need everyone to see or use adhesive tapes to stick posters, announcement letters and memorandum papers which may damage the nice look of the surface of the board after you remove your posts, it is quite easier to just pin papers, cards, fabrics and other materials into the softer, self-recovering surface of cork boards.
In business, this means convenience and time saved as one wouldn’t have to exert effort and time writing the information on the bulletin board. Instead, he may just print a copy of the message and pin it onto the cork board. He may also print multiple copies of the message and pin them on many cork boards located at different places within the office building in order to be seen by more people.
